Not to get all political, but we’d like to sound one more note on the looming library closures. Libraries are vital communal and cultural hubs. (Think outside the book! 🙂 )The NQ itself recently made a temporary shift to the New York Public Library on 42nd Street. We walked past the guardian lions and up the marble staircase and set up editorial shop at one of the long wooden tables, surrounded by scholars and students and researchers and writers and people studying the exhibits and kids who wanted to see original drawings from Winnie the Pooh. The security guards seemed to know, and like, everybody. Quiet spaces, vibrant spaces, found spaces, famous spaces: it was all going on. Libraries–not just for filming scenes in Ghostbusters.
